Privacy safety and Security for Buddy MiAi Chatbot -

We take privacy, security and toy safety very seriously and on the privacy and security side this is headed up internally by our very own Chief Cybersecurity and Technical Officer. 

Not only do we have the full testing requirements for Buddy MiAi Chatbot, we have taken into consideration all that is needed to keep children safe while using Playtech Ai products.

Regarding data held by Play Tech Ai Ltd on the device or our servers is pretty much non-existent.

There are no email details, home addresses, financials, parent/guardian, child's ages or even full names stored on the device or servers.

On the startup screen the only information asked for is the child's first name or the name the parent/guardian wishes Buddy to refer to the child by in conversation.

Buddy is run on our own servers here in the UK, and supported by AWS. That way we have round-the-clock management of the servers. We have two servers for Buddy MiAi Chatbot running, so if one server goes down, we have a second for back up to minimise any issues of Buddy being offline. 

No information or data is stored or collected for the child or parent/guardian.

We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) that could risk the child's privacy or safety. Play Tech AI Ltd complies with regulations like the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and we are FCC and CE-certified. As per requirements from the European Union, confirming the designed standards that apply to Buddy MiAi Chatbot including GDPR.

All apps that are preloaded into Playtech Ai products are appropriate for the age group the product is intended for. 

We prioritise privacy and security by encrypting all information and using the highest standards of protection to safeguard the child while using the device. Here’s how we ensure your child's data remains secure:
  • Minimal Data Collection: The only data collected is a child's first name or the name the parent/guardian wishes Buddy to refer to the child by.
  • No Cloud Storage: Play Tech Ai does not store any data on the company’s server or cloud.
  • Full Parental Control: The parent/guardian, has complete control over the child's data and access. Buddy is preloaded with parental controls; the child cannot access any options settings or additional apps not preloaded for the child on the device without the parent/gradian entering the parental password. The child can only access preloaded child friendly apps and browser.
  • No Data Sharing: We do not share, sell, or provide data to any third parties.
Buddy - MiAi Chatbot is COPPA-compliant, meaning we adhere to the FTC’s regulations for protecting children's privacy and safety. Rest assured, the child's privacy is our top priority.
Our servers will run on AWS for additional security and privacy. Below is some information on the way Buddy works/interacts with the child and how we work on AWS. 

The working principles behind ChatGPT and AWS Amazon servers -

Buddy MiAi Chatbot is based on the Android system as its software platform. This system provides the underlying drivers and operating environment for Buddy's hardware components, such as processors, sensors, displays, and speakers, ensuring that all the hardware can all work together.

Artificial Intelligence Interaction -

• Natural Language Processing: When a user asks a question to Buddy, Buddy's microphone receives the sound signal and converts it into an electrical signal. Then, through speech recognition technology, it is transformed into text. Subsequently, using natural language processing technology, the text is analysed to understand the user's intention.

• ChatGPT Integration: The processed text will be sent to the API interface of ChatGPT. Based on its large-scale pre-trained language model and deep learning algorithms, ChatGPT generates the corresponding response text and returns the result to Buddy.

• Speech Synthesis: When a child speaks, Buddy converts the received response text into a speech signal through speech synthesis technology, which drives the speaker to play out voice interaction with the user.

Data Storage and Cloud Computing - 

• Data Storage: Various data generated during the operation of Buddy such as user interaction records and learning progress, will be stored in local storage devices. At the same time, to achieve data backup and multi-device sharing, some data will also be synchronized to AWS server.

• Cloud Computing Services: AWS provides Buddy with powerful cloud computing resources. When Buddy needs to perform large-scale data processing, model training, or complex computing tasks, it can utilise the computing capabilities of AWS to complete these tasks.
 
How does AWS ensure data security? It mainly includes the following aspects:

Physical Security -

• Data Centre Protection: AWS's data centres employ advanced physical security measures, such as multi-layer access control, video surveillance, and biometric technology, to restrict unauthorised personnel from entering.

Data Encryption - 
• Storage Encryption: AWS offers various encryption methods, such as Amazon S3 server-side encryption, which can encrypt data stored in S3 to ensure the security of data in a static state.

• Transmission Encryption: Supports the use of encryption protocols like SSL/TLS to encrypt data during transmission, preventing data from being stolen or tampered with during network transmission.
At Play Tech Ai Ltd, we are working towards being KidSafe Certified. KidSafe is an independent safety certification service and seal-of-approval program designed exclusively for children-friendly websites and technologies.
